We decided we needed a break.  We had a week without any appointments so we decided to head south.  We didn't know where we would end up, just get on Interstate 95 and go. Our trip started at home on the coast of North Carolina.  We ended up in St. Augustine Beach, Florida, where we had never been before.  We stayed there all week and enjoyed every minute of it.  Gasoline prices were around $1.30 and it was around 500 miles from home.

This was the first of March and the weather was beautiful with highs in the mid 80's.

We stayed at the KOA Campground, Antasia Station, exit 94 off Interstate 95.  It  is a very pretty, clean campground with lots of shade trees, wide sites, a gentle breeze  and friendly people. We had site 84.  It was full.  It is one street over from the beach.  It is about 3 miles from the old part of St. Augustine.  There is a shuttle bus available.  There are two large outlet malls close by, and lots of restaurants.

This is the nation's oldest city. Don Juan PoncedeLeon founded it in March, 1513.  The area was originally called LaFloria which means Land of Flowers.   The Fountain of Youth is here.

There are miles of small shops just waiting to take your money. No cars are allowed here.  They had a "cold front" come thru the day we visited Old St. Augustine.  It was only in the mid 60's and we thought it was beautiful.

We stopped in Myrtle Beach before going on to St Augustine Beach. It was a total of  557 miles one way.

This trip was made when we still had the Gulfstream
Motorhome and towed a Cadillac Allante.
