Hardeeville South Carolina This is where we stayed cause it is halfway between Savannah and the South Carolina places. We stayed at the Hardeeville RV-Thomas Park Sites Campground, Hwy 170A, Hardeeville, SC. It is easy to get to off I-95, exit 8. We had site 208. It is a clean campground run by very friendly people. There is no swimming pool or playground area for children if you need that. Our nightly rate was $27. We stayed the week of Christmas 2006. The weather was extremely nice as it was in the 80's the first few days we were there, and then mid 70's the rest of the time .Too hot to wear Christmas sweaters. It did rain really hard Christmas Day. |

Hunting Island State Park South Carolina This is very pretty. Probably one of the prettiest places in South Carolina. It has a lighthouse that you can visit. There is a long fishing pier. There is also a campground right on the ocean with 195 sites. Some of the sites you can pull into and see the ocean from your front windshield, probably 50 feet or so. We did not stay there, but we will go back in the spring. It might get crowded in the summer times though. They have 30 & 50 amps and a dump station. There are also a few cabins. It is open all year. It is just a few miles past Beaufort, SC. The Shrimp Shack and the restaurant in the yellow house are both very good. |

Hilton Head South Carolina What can I say? It is for the rich. There are several nice campgrounds here. But it was so crowded everywhere that we didn't want to stay. A little expensive too. There are miles of outlets before you get on the island if that is your thing. We are not much on shopping, but our daughters would love it. We have been there, done that, probably won't go back. |
|
Beaufort South Carolina This is a beautiful small old city. The houses are huge and very pretty. If you like the houses in Savannah you definitely want to check out Beaufort. The streets are lined with spanish moss on the trees. |
|
Fripp Island South Carolina This island is about a mile past Hunting Beach State Park. But once you cross the bridge, it is all gated communities. They will only let you turn around. Save yourself the trouble as you can see everything before you cross the bridge.. |

Savannah Georgia Savannah is a beautiful old southern town. It has "squares" running off Abercom Street that date back to the 1700's. On River Street which is old brick or cobble stone there are many restaurants, bars, souvenir shops. Also a big boat for touring the city's rivers etc. You can also have a carriage ride around town. The streets are covered with over hanging trees covered with spanish moss. Spanish moss like on above tree. The houses are huge and beautifully kept. This is a very large and busy town. Lots of marsh in this area. We tried to eat lunch at Lady & Sons Restaurant several times. She has a TV show. But the only parking is on the streets and we never did find a parking space. |

Tybee Island Georgia This evidently is "the beach of Savannah". There was a pretty campground that we did check out. However, we got there by going thru downtown Savannah in our car and we definitely would not want to take a motorhome thru downtown Savannah under any circumstances. |
|
Skidway Island Georgia This island and campground is the most south one. It was a little out of our way. And again we went thru downtown Savannah to reach it. It was pretty but we probably will not go back. |
My Southern Bells hope you enjoy our travels
