We had been trying since Christmas to get out of town.   Town being home on the coast of Morehead City NC.

We had to go to a DJ meeting and shag club dance party at Myrtle Beach so we stopped in there for several days.    It rained most of the time and was around 55-60 degrees F.  One of our furnaces quit on us and we had it fixed while there.  It was covered under warranty thank goodness.  Oh, we have an American Dream 40 ft diesel pusher motorhome which we really enjoy.

Myrtle Beach is about 3-4 hours from our house depending on traffic.  We go there alot.  This time we stayed at Briarcliff RV Resort, Hwy 17, North Myrtle Beach, SC. Phone # 843-272-2730. It is a coast to coast resort and a passport america.  We also like the KOA south of town.

The map below is not entirely correct as we went through the base instead of thru Jacksonville, NC.

This is the beginning of our Florida trip.
It was 165 miles  from our house to Myrtle Beach.

When we left Myrtle Beach we drove down to Jacksonville Fl. for the night.  It was 342 miles for the day. It had rained 7 inches the day before we got there, and all places were flooded. We finally found a space at Hances First in Fl. campground to spend the night.

The next morning we drove down to Lady Lake @ The Villages.
It was an easy day with 135 miles down hwy 301 which was double lanes. There were beautiful horse farms along the way.
Hwy 27 takes you on into Lady Lake.

We stayed at the Blue Parrot RV Resort in Lady Lake.   When we pulled up the first thing we saw were lots of people in the swimming pool.  Remember, it had been 55 when we left Myrtle Beach the day before and raining all the way down to Florida.   It was 87 degrees now. And stayed near 80 the 3 days we were here.

Some friends of ours, Dottie & Jack, had just moved to Lady Lake in January and we spent several days visiting with them in their new area.   It is definitely an adult playground.  You must be 55 or older to buy a home in the Villages where they live.  But it is absolutely beautiful.  It kinda looks like something you would expect Walt Disney building.  They have their own golf courses, free of charge.   There is a market square with a big stage where nightly entertainment is held.   There is at least one restaurant that caters only to members of the Villages, maybe more.  You can't even get in it without a Villages passport.   The only problem I saw in this area, was that everyone was Old.  I am 63 and I think I was the youngest around.  It was also very congested with lots of snowbirds.  They even have a place on the streets marked off only for golf carts.   But I have got to admit, it is one of the prettiest places to live.  This is a picture of Dottie and Jack.  We sure do miss them.
