This is a very old  city. There are some absolutely beautiful houses here.  The Ashley & Cooper Rivers meet here. Cooper River Bridge used to be terrible, but they have a new bridge now that isn't so bad. Of course, I would still not want to take an RV across it just because you have to go through the City. Take 526 around the city with an RV.

There are several beaches close by.

There is a submarine and a ship you can tour at Patriots Point.

There is a market at the old slave market downtown that is nice to browse through. You can buy homemade crafts and baskets here, plus just about anything.

There are some excellent restaurants. The one we really enjoyed and went back to several times was the Saffron Cafe or deli at 333 East Bay St. Everything we got was delicious. The she crab soup was good. Their sandwiches were excellent. They also have entrees for a complete meal.  Their breads and desserts were out of this world.

We stayed at the Lake Aire RV Park, south of town. It is a Passport America campground.  It was a nice campground, but there was a train close by.

We have also stayed at Oak Plantation which was nice.

The James Island Campground is very nice but a little harder to get to. It  has more of  a "family feeling" than the others. At Christmas time it has a huge display of  lights.
